International Girls in ICT Day Competition for High School Girls

The Faculty of Information Technology at the University “Mediterranean” Podgorica and the Student Association of the Faculty of Information Technology at the University “Mediterranean” Podgorica, with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Innovation of Montenegro, are organizing the 3rd Competition in Digital Skills for high school girls from Montenegro. The goal of this competition is to promote ICT, and STEM in general, among high school girls in Montenegro, focusing on creating a mobile application using the Thunkable platform (https://thunkable.com). This invitation is extended to high school students in Montenegro and their teachers/mentors.

The competition will be organized in teams of three members. Girls will work together to solve a given task on the Thunkable platform. Team members do not have to be from the same class or school. An introduction to the platform and preparation for the competition will be organized as a two-day training session in Podgorica (the exact date and location will be announced later). Travel and accommodation expenses will be covered.

Applications are open via the link https://forms.gle/2xuyuMC2S8P1BoTy9, and the deadline for submission is April 1, 2025, by 11:59 PM. Along with basic information on the team members, each team must provide a short description, and main motivation to participate in this competition. Up to 10 of the most successful applications will be selected for the competition. We also encourage teachers to support their students in preparing for the competition and to motivate them to apply.

Valuable prizes will be awarded to the top three teams, and the public will be informed about the winners through social media. Additionally, the Logate Institute for Information Technology traditionally offers a free course of choice at their Academy for the top three participants. All participants will receive a certificate of participation.

The competition will be held on April 24, 2025, the globally recognized Girls in ICT Day, under the patronage of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). The event will start at 10:00 AM at the Faculty of Information Technology, University of “Mediteran” Podgorica.
