A professor from the Belgrade Polytechnic visiting the Faculty of Visual Arts
In the period between April 24 – 28, at the Faculty of Visual Arts of the “Mediterranean” University Podgorica, there was a professor of visual communication and photography, Assoc. Dušanka Komnenić, from the Belgrade Polytechnic, Belgrade Academy of Technical Sciences. During her visit to the University, Professor Komenić gave a lecture to photography students on the subject of “Contemporary Photography” in the faculty photo studio on Thursday, April 27. A day later, Prof. Komenić gave her lecture “Asylum NYC project” to all students of the Faculty of Visual Arts, through which she introduced them to the activist, conceptual project and social experiment, which in 2006 brought together 10 artists who live and create outside the USA. and to participate in the exhibition at WHITE BOX in New York. Of the invited participants, two were eventually awarded the legal assistance necessary to obtain a three-year artist visa for the United States. The period for online application lasted two months, and in this short period a total of 235 artists from 43 different countries applied, and one of the two awarded was Dušanka Komnenić.
During his visit, prof. Komnenic used the opportunity to familiarize herself with the students’ works and to hold a series of discussions/lectures in smaller groups in the first half of the week. Otherwise prof.
