Lecture “Urban light landscapes. Public art for the city” by Franz Cerami
On the occasion of the Day of Contemporary Italian Art, “Mediterranean” University Podgorica had the exceptional honor of hosting the Italian artist Franco Cerami on Wednesday, October 8, who gave a lecture entitled “Urban Light Landscapes. Public Art for the City”.The event, as a result of long-term successful cooperation with the Embassy of Italy in Podgorica and the Italian Cultural Institute in Belgrade, was an opportunity to exchange opinions on the subject of public art as a form of education and dialogue. This year’s theme of the Day of Contemporary Italian Art is precisely education, understood as a broad and multifaceted process that includes education, research and exchange of experiences.
Maestro Cerami emphasized his view of art as one of the forms of horizontal education, which arises from meeting people and the active participation of local communities. Public art, in this vision, becomes a way to build bridges between different cultures and sensibilities, just as diplomacy does, encouraging dialogue, coexistence and mutual growth.
Students and professors had the opportunity to learn more about the maestro’s projects around the world, in cities such as Naples, Rome, Palermo, Sao Paulo, St. Petersburg, Marrakesh, Paris, Kuala Lumpur and India, but also to give an additional touch to the lecture itself through numerous questions and dialogue with the artist.
