TWO GUEST LECTURES HELD BY PROFESSORS FROM THE UNIVERSITY ST. KLIMENT OHRIDSKI – BITOLA, MACEDONIA

The Faculty of Foreign Languages had the pleasure of hosting professors from the University St. Kliment Ohridski – Bitola, Macedonia as a part of CEEPUS III freemover mobility for teachers.

Students had the opportunity to attend a lecture held by professor Silvana Kolevska Neskovska on the topic “Literary translation: challenges and solutions”. In discussing the topic of literary translation, students were keen on sharing the translation challenges they have experienced so far and how they arrived at cceptable translation solutions. They also received with great interest the information about the translation projects professor Kolevska Neskovska has realized with her students from the Faculty of Education in Bitola.

Moreover, in the lecture titled “Sexist language in public discourse”, students gained insights into how to identify overt and implicit forms of sexist language; they discussed the reasons why sexist language is used, and how to recognize sexist hate speech. In addition to that, professor has shared with them some interesting findings from her past studies related both to sexist language and political discourse.

The lecture by professor Lela Andreevska Ivanovska on “Critical thinking and creativity” aimed to familiarize students with appropriate techniques for developing critical thinking and creativity. They had the opportunity to express their view, analyze and debate through interactive exercises.
