Prof. Dr. Marija Janković, dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, participated in the Blue Economy Forum at the University of Bari
Prof. Marija Janković, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, “Mediterranean” University Podgorica. She spoke on the topic “Analysis of the blue economy sector in Montenegro.”
She first greeted those present in front of the Mediterranean University and introduced them to the University’s mission and faculty units. In her presentation, she presented the economic environment and business environment in Montenegro, emphasizing the level of GDP and employment generated through the blue economy sector. She referred to the analysis of the current state of the blue economy in all its segments, pointing out the problems, as well as the set priorities according to the EU policy. She spoke about the unused potential of this sector, which would achieve significant growth with investment and project support. Dr. Janković emphasized the importance of the cooperation between Montenegro and Italy, especially the Pula region, and the necessity of finding joint methods of improving the blue economy in this part of the Adriatic Sea.
The forum was attended by professors from the University of Bari, master’s and doctoral students, representatives of the academic sector from Albania, as well as representatives of the public and private sector and representatives of the media. The purpose of the organized event was to promote the methodology, developed within the framework of the previously implemented IPA cross-border cooperation project of Italy, Albania and Montenegro.
