ACADEMIC, PROFESSOR DR. PANAGOPOULOS VISIT AT MEDITERRANEAN UNIVERSITY PODGORICA

On Thursday, March 9, organized by the Faculty of Law of the “Mediterranean” University Podgorica, a lecture was held by Academician prof. Dr. Habil Alexios Panagopoulos on the topic “Legal tradition – work and work of Basil the Great as a lawyer / on tradition and customs”.

The lecture was opened by prof. Milena Kavarić, Ph.D., vice dean of the Faculty of Law, who in her opening words introduced the audience to the life and work of the esteemed guest. Rector of “Mediterranean” University Podgorica, prof. Dr. Savo Marković then explained in a few words the private acquaintance with Professor Panagopoulos, which dates back to a long-ago meeting and joint participation in an event in the Miholjska prevlaka Monastery, which continues to this day.

In his presentation, Professor Panagopoulos referred to the work and achievements of Basil the Great and introduced the students to his often overlooked achievements as a jurist. Acquainting those present with the canons of Basil the Great, he drew attention to the wide body of his legal experience, from criminal, through family to hereditary, and the influence it had at that time.

Professor Panagopoulos’ lecture was attended by the dean and students of the Faculty of Law, members of the academic community of the University “Mediterranean” Podgorica and other interested members of the public.
